This unit splits your cigarette lighter outlet into two, although I never really used the item you could power two products in you car with it, it was around when police radar detectors came out, you plus your radar detector into one and an MP3 or ipod or cell phone into the other. 

I recall buying it (probably from radio shack) to be able to connect my mp3 player and my warm car starter kit that ran from your lighter to the dead battery recipient (this was when i was a good Samaritan- long dead, died with the American dream).

DC Car Lighter Converter:

I used this to play convert my mp3 players power to the lighter from the car, i had a cassette player and that was all my portable cd player needed rechargeable and I was getting bored of recharging them all the time.

 
This is a great deal for you newly discovered Ipod people with somewhat old cars, the dc converter is worth allot new in a store, and I hardly used it enough.
