This site was crippled by NETOBJECT FUSION 8.0

BuiltWithNOF

Yes version 8 owned by who knows who will wipe out your site, cripple you and after a wonderful $50 rebate and no manuals make you hunt for support in newsgroups who have a collection of people complaining about the same issues.

Running version 4 though 6 Mx  was a JOY!, its interface was smooth, its organizational structure was excellent and support was as good, I thought I was moving up in the world.

Version 8.0 takes all the small bugs into super ones, the new features are at best confusing at worst days of useless time consumption, and adding new features while leaving your bugs as is or in worst condition is sooooo unprofessional, the upgrade route is like pulling teeth, and try to get a refund, I still am!

This 1 page is the best I could do for now while I figure out what I can do next, if you have any suggestions by all means leave a message to mail@nethoppr.cnc.net

Thank You

and to my users sorry for the inconvenience.

HOW do I return a dysfunctional product that I cannot get any customer support on!, I bought fusion 8 and crippled my website and would like to downgrade to fusion 6mx which was an excellent product, please get back to me asap because I will call my credit card company and request a stop payment on this fraudulent product that does not even come close to the functionality of its predecessors, I am exhausted with newsgroup support  when I paid decent money for the upgrade.

xxxxxxxxxx

ps: I filled out forms already, I ran the upgrade #4 today, and nothing changed

  • What point is a backup if you can’t restore it seconds after its creation? (not at all in version 6)
  • What point a template backup if template creation FAILS everytime on files that the program creates?
  • The damn program drops pages without notification and works simply vanishes, and w/o backups its permanent! (never happen in vr 6)
  • The damn picture insertion blows up pictures (despite the aspect ratio) and ^#%$s up your layout adding hours to construction
  • The browser bug is still with us from version 4, 6, 6mx and now fusion 8, what nobody knows how to fix it?
  • Copy of pages to re-use is better with ctrl-c and v, but the TAGs for the pictures also copy and are wrong (it worked fine in vr 6)
  • Navigation bars are simple absurd and never seem to work (personal issue maybe!)
  • Post changed assets; after pissing me off, pissed off my isp provider, yahoo support and who knows who else cause the damn thing does not work AT ALL!
  • Capture of web site automation doesn’t work and the simple copy and paste feature has been crippled.
  • Support answered 1 question, then saw the can of worms and has ignored me since (not true in the past)
  • My previous version 6 site styles could not import and I had to abandon them (support actually tried to help with this one)
  • Site styles on my fusion 8 sometimes gets lost (by itself!) and I have to download them over and over and over….
  • And honestly I forgot the other group of things that went wrong cause the fire does not go out on this monster and no one helps either, what a waist.

10/31/05 Sent Message to newgroup, they couldn’t help either, all they said was “it aint so bad” or I don’t use it for my primary site, just to make a page or two OFF my primary site, what are u stupid?

I truly truly appreciate the help but point remains, the site I want I cannot copy over and I have given up trying, it seems its completely crippled or missing, the backup to template after allot of trouble works, and I've use that to copy parts and portions of my old site, but every fix I bust my %#$ learning to get around NEW problems opens another can of worms, an asset that hasn't been changed since 11/2004 just became "unused" in the assets list, I subsequently posted some eBay items and my insignia got dropped off, I had to go in and TAG that asset in particular as "always publish file", how ridiculous, its in at least 15 pages what happened out of the blue that it got dropped, I haven't touched it, I am going crazy trying to get my site together what a piece of ^$%$ net fusion has become.

Now I haven't yet mastered getting pictures to balance, I copy a page over that is okay, then with the maintain aspect ratio flagged I load a different picture into the new page, and change the page words, suddenly the picture blows up to ridiculous portions and screws up my layout (this happens all the time with or without aspect ratio on), and posting a page ends up taken 20 minutes or more instead of 5.

The backup was a real kicker, I loved the fact that I could go into the backup directory and just go backwards in time to recover, what point is backup serve now that it is totally dysfunctional?, why even bother having it?, I can't even recover 1 second after I make the backup its corrupt right from the getgo.

Man am I in for a full time job with this!

Here is where anger turns into vindication

Net Objects Fusion 8.0 is a nightmare, version 6 had manageable bugs but 8 is a disaster and support DOES not reply to my questions?, they sent it without a manual and then when I upgraded no less then 2 days later they announced version 9.0?.

They really know how to alienate clients, and version 6 was the best and first to hit the market at the time, I think they are a third rate company now, I lost all respect for them and have been crippled by there software for weeks and still putzing around for month to get my site back up.

If anyone gets a hack of version 9.0 remember me, cause I no longer buy NetObjects, and only if I see the FULL version and use it for a year will I even consider future upgrades.  %$^## now I got to save money up for another website creation software, ughh..

Just Maybe we have civilized people there?, empathy approach

So my biggest problem now is how do I add pictures to my site.

1) I add a picture with a width, height and unit and maintain aspect ratio turned on.

2) I proceed to add another picture and the first picture Blows up to xxxx by xxxx pixels messing up my screen and wasting my time

3) I click on that enormous picture and bring its height, width back to what I original set it

4) I pull in the corners of the page I am working on manually

5) I click on “objects” and “set layout to objects” to fix the mess above created

6) And then I check to see if anything else is messed up

There has got to be a better way?, what do I do?

Here is where I realized I was getting dicked! (notice the red lettering)

Backups using “templates” also does not work, I get a failure message on a number of Net fusion xxx_bak.gif files, and so my crippled website now has absolutely no backup and I need to go back to version 6.0mx if I want to move foreword or if I bomb during re-developing in fusion 8.0

At this point I failed to realize that:

A) I was probably talking to myself
B) No comprenda englisho, just weres the money
C) Who needs to support users when symantec could buy you out

Message #2;

The problem indicated in step #2 below does not happen some of the time I am discovering, it happed ALL the nearly doubling the time it takes to add new pages to my site that is pages with pictures. What’s the fix and/or what am I doing wrong.

1) I develop a new page on the site.

2) I copy this page and then change the picture assets, the aspect ratio box is checked and also I tried it unchecked

3) The transitions looks good, then I go and “click” just “click” on the picture and it blows up to full screen and I have to shrink it, lock the aspect again resize objects to layout and then master border and then hope to hell that when I posted it to my website it actually uploaded and inserted the picture or I end up having to do it again!

4) Anything seems to trigger off the problem. Not just clicking on the picture sometimes resizing an adjacent picture

Message #1

I’ve read more of the manual and finally discovered that backups have to be restored to the user directories to be recovered, that’s just silly! But I can live with that (if it works) is there anyway to recover the OLD net fusion MX setup where backups can be restored by simple “loading” them???

PLUS its been a week and no one has replied to my other important questions, my website has been crippled for this week while I putz with BUGS from net fusion 8.0, I am getting close to requesting my money back and sticking to the old faster! More reliable and working version of 6, please give me a reason not to do so!

Another issue, when I copy text! and paste from the old net fusion 6mx to the net fusion 8 I get a “Damaged objects have been found on the page and have been deleted” and the whole application crashes!!, this is a new feature that wasn’t in the old version, I was able to copy page text form one page to another even have two net fusion 6’s running and do it so what’s the issue here?

Usually you are very prompt in assisting me with problems, has anyone looked at these issues?, what do I do they are holding back to further development of my website.

Thank You

Okay I’ve got some very serious issues here!

1) When I use to get in trouble I could always go back to the “backup directory” and load my OLD files back into the program, w/o incident. I loved this feature.

When I try to do this in NetObjects fusion 8 it replies with “The current site style has been deleted”, this happens seconds after the backup is complete!!!! How do I fix this?

2) When I insert pictures into a web page and shrink them down to fit nicely they seem to sometimes without cause blow up back to original size, messing up my entire page!

I use to have to reset the option “stretch” on pictures to reduce them back and recover my layout properties when this happened in the past, now I can’t do that, and my layout properties do not recover and so I have to do that manually, and undo doesn’t undo the problem? And restore (as above) fails, my website is now crippled?

Michael

Updates:

11/29/05 - Asknet Provides a full refund (per an E-mail message) we will see, Netfusion is not a bad program, I stil luse it for this website only they seem to have dropped the ball on proper upgrade and Q&A procedures and its a shame. Version 6.20 and MX are both highly recommended and I will be downloading the latest beta copys for testing before I up and buy the upgrades like I did last month.

I ONLY buy before I try software from companys that have demonstrated an excellent tech support and general product upgrade record, this has hurt me twice lately and very bad (in my opinion) and so I will begin a log on what software to get and what to avoid to help some of my power users who also BUY what they try.

11/17/05 - I decided to repost my home page and get back to FULL business, I used my fusion 6, upgraded to 6.20 and spent a WHOLE day recovering form the damage that fusion 8 made.

This includes corruption of all but one of my website “node” files to a point where recovery was impossible, and of course support wasn’t there to help either, then an arduous recovery procedure as I repost my Ebay items.

New Features *(NONE!)*, so all this headache and I paid for it, asknet the distributors of fusion 8 seem to have played me for a sucker, I am still waiting for answers on refund procedures.

I am Running my site on NetFusion 6.20, the only last working version of netfusion was 6.0 (for me), I have been the proud owner of Netfusion for about 7 years and have been happy with its performace.

My site was actually down for 2 days, eBay users have had full access to items and pictures, however I spent a month trying to get the upgrade to simply xxxx as for the new features what good are they if the software looks like a bad Beta release. So I promised myself for at least 1 month (the time it took out of my life) I will return the favor and also maintain a page of the whole inccident for those of you contemplating an upgrade.

 - SORRY If my site is currently choppy, I am recovering from NETOBJECTS FUSION 8.0, for details on this wonderful upgrade click on Fusion 8
